Glossy Blogger Aimee Gets Shorty!

After Autumn/Winter 2009’s emphasis on legs with exciting hosiery and thigh high boots it’s not surprising that shorts are a Spring/Summer essential. This season there’s an array of styles available and a pair suitable for any occasion from knee to knicker skimming.

By day, tailored shorts are an edgy addition to work wear, teamed with a crisp white t-shirt and jacket they are perfect office attire. Bermuda shorts, as seen in Yves St. Laurent’s S/S 2010 collection, are great for this look as they cut just above the knee.

Cocktail shorts work well for the evening and are a fantastic alternative to skirts and dresses. These luxe shorts are often still tailored but in much more luxurious fabrics. Prints are big this season too and cocktail shorts are the perfect way to sport bold patterns.

For the weekend, safari shorts and denim cut offs are the go to look. The turned up hems and earthy tones are perfect for just chilling out. Black leather shorts are a big YES this season; they edge up a feminine top and work well with the body armour trend that is around at the moment. They are available all over the high street; I purchased mine from Henry Holland’s Debenhams range for only £25. BARGAIN.

Bloomer’s are also back in fashion. The high-waisted 1950’s-esque style is only really for the leggy or small waisted but if you can pull them off bloomers are a must have. Urban Outfitters and Topshop have a range of silk beauties in floral styles and teamed with a baggy tee; they really are a fab beach ready look.
