Glossy Blogger Aimee on Her Summer Essentials!
With all this gorgeous weather around I have been stripping off layers, rolling up hems, snipping at sleeves and putting my boots to the back of my wardrobe. I’m desperate to update my wardrobe into the summer months, however as a 5ft 5 curvy girl, hot pants and crop tops are most definitely not the answer. So I’ve come up with my top 5 of summer essentials.
1) This summer calls for a statement piece whether it is a pair of shorts, a jumpsuit, a maxi dress, or my new favourite pantaloons. Printed Pantaloons are the answer to this season’s sport-luxe trend and will instantly electrify your wardrobe. Coming in a variety of prints, you can adopt any look you wish, tribal, floral, plain chic even animal print. They are no longer associated with gap year students and travelling hippies, this season’s printed pantaloons are in crisp cottons and gorgeous silks and are super chic and perfect for the summer months.
2) As British Summertime, is always not that reliable, a summer jacket is a complete essential. It is a great way to channel the denim trend with a denim jacket or a sophisticated blazer. The high street is awash with pastels at the moment and there is no better way to channel these tones than through a boyfriend blazer. It updates and sophisticates any look instantly. Go for nude tones if you are going for a subdued look, but if you want to create that statement look, go ahead and clash tones.
3) Summer footwear, just because in the summer I think it is your feet’s turn to talk. An amazing pair of flat sandals is always my summer investment as I wear them endlessly, teaming them with everything from boyfriend jeans to pretty summer dresses.
A fierce pair of heels that show off your pedicures and make your tanned tootsies look gorgeous. Cloggs seem to be the shoe must have this season, but if you are not a fan, or do not want to do the awkward slip on shoe shuffle, go for a wooden wedge.
4) Bikini shopping is possibly the most trivial of tasks for me. Personally I do not think a bikini looks its best until it’s on tanned and glistening skin, not the cramped cubicle of a changing room with every mirror pointing at you from every angle. Magazines, every year offer a how to guide on matching your ‘shape’ to the best bikini style, I usually go to what I feel comfortable in and this year I am completely obsessed with the tie dye ones. I think they are boho beach worthy.
5) Super stylish shades. The sixties, John Lennon-esque round glasses are back with a vengeance and fashionista’s are all-over the visor style this season. Go for a limited edition pair, if it means you can avoid spending hours curling my eyelashes and getting my eyeliner perfect, the sunglasses deserve to gorgeous and unique.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend of sun as much as I did and are excited to whip out your finest summerwear.
