Glossy Movie Review: The Back-Up Plan
Much to my boyfriend’s dismay, most of my all time favourite films include J.Lo in a starring role – Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, Monster In Law – to me, there is simply nothing better than curling up on the sofa, popcorn in tow, and watching any one of her classic chick flick tales.
So, you can imagine how excited I was (ahem, VERY excited) to attend a screening of J.Lo’s new movie, The Back-up Plan, last week at the Sony preview theatre in Soho.
J.Lo stars as, Zoe, a successful ex-suit who now owns a pet shop in Manhattan but happens to be a little less successful in the man department. Now thirty, she decides to take her dreams of having a baby into her own hands and turns to artificial insemination for help, aka. “The Back-up Plan.” On a blissful high after her first treatment, she is taken aback by a hunky stranger named Stan, played by Alex O’Loughlin, who gets into the same taxi by mistake. After a little quarrel over whom the taxi belongs to, they soon part ways. Without giving too much away, I can say that their paths magically cross again and they quickly fall for each other. But what happens to the two lovebirds when Zoe realizes her first attempt at artificial insemination was successful!? Will night time student, daytime cheese-selling Stan stay or go? If you are simply gripping your seat for the answer, I highly recommend that you go see the film. Needless to say I was pleasantly pleased with J.Lo’s return to the big screen, even though I may be a tad biased. If you are still feeling unsure about the storyline, be certain that you can at least count on J.Lo’s knockout post-twins bod and O’Loughlin’s drool-worthy looks and supremely fit physique to enjoy!
