Marian Kihogo’s Column // Lost Chanel Jackets, Old Faithful and ‘Go For It’.
I love my blackberry, really do I! I affectionately call her ‘Old Faithful’. After all, it helps me keep track of all my appointments, faithfully sends me important reminders of events I’d otherwise forget and generally is my own little personal assistant. We usually get on swell, like a downtown hipster and a rack full of Alexander Wang. I was none the pleased, when Old Faithful woke me at four am this morning. No it wasn’t an urgent family emergency of some sort. It was a personal styling client calling to with a styling emergency.
One hour and a vintage Chanel jacket later, I was back in bed until my phone buzzed with another styling emergency. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore what I do but a girl also needs her fashion sleep no?
The rest of my day was a hazy blur of styling, pr and creative consultation appointments.
Lost and found
I had reunited the vintage Chanel jacket, a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo heels and a vintage Bruce Oldfield dress to their respective owners.
It’s all in the name
It was such a pleasure to end the day meeting Tallulah, Glossy’s Editor in Chief at the Sanderson hotel. I adore the relaxed inner sanctum of this hotel. Pair that with berry coolers to drool over and I was in the capital of relaxation nation. I’m a sucker for a great icy cooler! If it goes by a memorable name, it is all the better! Sanderson’s ‘Go For It’ was both that and more. By the end of the evening, my day and its jarring 4am start had been washed away by the drink powers that be.
Here is to ‘Go For It’ and to hoping no Chanel jackets go missing tonight.
If you are ever in the Sanderson, make sure to ‘Go For It’.
