WOW Sunnies from The Haus That Jane Built
With summer just around the corner we’ve started thinking about which statement sunnies to sport! The task has been made considerably easier by the gorgeous shades made by LA based designer Carly Verble. We caught up with her to find out more about her distinctive designs.
Glossy : How did you get into designing sunglasses?
Carly : I kind of just fell into the whole designing thing. I write about fashion and am always intrigued by the avant garde designs that others may consider weird. I figured if other people can make things, why can’t I?
Although I will admit I’ve been obsessed with bedazzled glasses since I was about 15. I would wear these gigantic bug eyed rhinestone glasses to my swim meets. I was always different in my fashion choices. I guess you could say I’ve been accessorizing to the beat of my own drum.
Glossy : Which celebrity would you like to see wearing them?
Carly : I think the obvious answer would be Lady GaGa, but I’d like to spread the fierceness around so I’ll say Katy Perry. And I’ve gotta give some love to the fellas. I think Adam Lambert would look fabulous in The Haus.
Glossy : What inspires you?
Carly : I’m always inspired by the darker things in life. I like skulls and spiders, anything associated with Halloween really. As far as people go Tim Burton really inspires me because I think we have similar twisted views of the world. And even though he’s left us, I was always inspired by Alexander McQueen. He had a brilliant mind.
Glossy : What are your goals for the brand?
Carly : I want to share The Haus That Jane Built with the world! It may sound silly, but it’s true. Everyone deserves to see the world through rhinestone studded glasses. For right now, I’m just working on getting the Haus’ name out there. I’m a digger so I spend a good majority of my time finding those perfect opportunities.
Glossy : What are your favourite blogs/magazines?
Carly : I’m a celebrity gossip fanatic so you could take your pick, I probably read them all as well as the fashion blogs.
As far as magazines I love the indie mags and digital publications. They seem to be far more interesting than Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar since they appreciate the little people in fashion. Don’t get me wrong, I love the spreads in the more well known glossies, but sometimes they’re just so boring.
Glossy : Where can we buy your collection?
Carly : You can buy The Haus That Jane Built only on Etsy!
